About the Project

The project aims to enhance the safety and well-being of elderly individuals in the digital world by providing educational resources and support.

It will feature three live meetings, complemented by virtual sessions, to foster discussions on online safety, recognizing warning signs of danger, and maintaining psychological health.

Participants will engage in activities that include developing a guidebook for adult educators, assessments, and an online digital course offering diplomas of participation.

Project objectives

  1. Online Safety for the Elderly: Educating elderly individuals on how to protect themselves from online threats, scams, and unsafe practices.
  2. Recognizing Warning Signs: Training family members and caregivers to identify signs of potential online dangers or mental health issues in elderly individuals.
  3. Psychological Health: Strategies for maintaining good mental health as one ages, particularly in the context of using technology.
  4. Active Aging: Encouraging active lifestyles among the elderly, which may include physical activity, social engagement, and continued learning.
  5. Digital Literacy: Improving the ability of elderly individuals and adult educators to use digital platforms effectively and safely.
  6. Support for Families and Caregivers: Providing resources and knowledge to help families support their elderly members in navigating online spaces.
  7. Development of Educational Materials: Creating guides and courses for adult educators to aid in their teaching efforts regarding these topics.

Project Activities

  1. The project will feature three live meetings, with the potential for additional virtual meetings throughout its duration. Each live meeting will include an electronic component. Following each meeting, activities will be developed, such as the creation of a guidebook for adult educators, assessments, and an online digital course that offers a participation diploma. The final event will consolidate all meetings and activities by hosting a conference at a center for the elderly, where future objectives will be discussed, and the project will be concluded.

Impact

  1. It is hoped that the online video course and the handbook will be utilized not only by the elderly and adult educators but also by families, other healthcare professionals like psychologists, and a broader audience. The goal is to equip the project's target group with self-protection strategies and extend these benefits to others, ultimately making the online world a safer place for individuals of all ages.

Kick Off

(Bonn, Germany)

December 2022, The first meeting in the project was held in Bonn, Germany. All consortium representatives attended the meeting to lay the foundation of our project and make sure that we are walking in the right path for the success of our project.

Czech Republic

March 2023, Organizational representatives have met in Prague, all representatives have already been informed about the agenda of the meeting concerning the main elements of the e-learning platform and the generation of the guidelines for the research and the training modules.

LTT Braila

Romania

August 2023, teaching/learning/training activities were organized for adults and especially for parents who have children with disabilities. During the 5 days of activities, we focused both on the theoretical approach to recuperative work methods and techniques for children with disabilities, as well as on the practical side. So that the participants from the 4 partner countries (Germany, Romania, Czech Republic and Turkey) had the opportunity to exchange practical skills and at the same time to discover new and innovative methods in working with children with disabilities.

Multiplier Event

March 2024, We conducted our final transnational project meeting in Nevşehir, Türkiye. With the attendance of the 8 participants from 4 countries (Germany, Czechia, Romania and Türkiye). During the meeting, we discussed the progress of our IO-2 work and the creating of our elearning platform. Thanks to all the participants for their contributions to this fruitful meeting.

May 2024, we have conducted the final events in the project. The multiplier events which are highlighted in the photo that we showed the video tutorials for parents with special needs children presented by Dr. Enita Metaj - Psychiatrist, it aims to develop games for children to help them build stronger skills and work on their development.
